Is the NRA Dead?

We portray our country as the wild west full of "real Americans," but the U.S. population is actually 80 percent urban or suburban. And the reign of the NRA may be over. This from Alternet:

"Despite expending nearly $7 million in a national fear campaign, NRA-endorsed candidates lost 80 percent of their races against gun-control candidates. More than 90 percent of candidates endorsed by the NRA's nemesis, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, won their races. If 2008 was, in the NRA's own words, "arguably the most important year in its history," then the election results suggest that the gun group is arguably the most overhyped and impotent special-interest lobby in the country."

  1. I, for one, am thrilled to death (opps, probably should not use that expression when talking about guns) that we will have an administration that is going to take control over guns in this country.
I am sure when the administration’s agents go to the gangs, (Mexican, black and white) in the inner cities and elsewhere, the members will hand over all the guns they have in their possession because they love Mr. Obama and his staff.
Maybe they should go after the honest, hard working citizens first, who have guns for the purposes of hunting, recreational target shooting, and/or protection of their families. This group of citizens will give up the guns reluctantly, but without any violence, I am not so sure the gang members will do the same.
By going after the honest citizen first, the administration will have many guns to show that they are disarming the population.
I am sure the criminal population will sleep better knowing that when they commit their next crime they will not have to face a victim who can defend himself or herself and their families.
The administration will not be able to remove the guns from the gang’s possession because the guns are not registered for many obvious reasons. The gang members nor their abodes can be searched without a proper search warrant signed by a Judge to make a reasonable and prudent search and/or arrest.

  2. last paragraph should read as follows:
The administration will not be able to remove the guns from the gang’s possession because the guns are not registered for many obvious reasons. The gang members nor their abodes can not be searched without a proper search warrant signed by a Judge to make a reasonable and prudent search and/or arrest.
